REVIEW: Hilton Watford, ideal for Harry Potter fans
This hotel is a popular choice amongst those heading to the Harry Potter Studios at Leavesden Studios, located in a suburb of Watford. It’s about a 15 minute taxi from the hotel or if you’re travelling there from the station they have very frequent buses dedicated to taking you to the Wizarding World.
If you’re a fan of Harry Potter or even just film production, the studio tour is absolutely worth a visit. You should allow a morning or afternoon to make the most of it and don’t forget to try their green screen activities for some amazing photos to take home with you.
For when you’re booking to go there, the Warner Brothers Studio Tour doesn’t offer cashback itself. But if you visit the TopCashback website here, you can claim 5.25% through 365 Tickets instead.
Although there’s a whole load to say about the WB Studios, we’ll take a look at the hotel at hand. Unfortunately you don’t get to stay in a 1,000 year old castle like Hogwarts, but you do get to stay near to the Studios if you’re planning on paying them a visit.
Hilton Watford is close to several major motorways including the M25, M1 and A1M. With free parking and plenty of it, plus its location, the hotel has a lot going for it on paper to attract guests.
The challenge with Hilton Watford is that it’s extremely dated and is in desperate need of a refurbishment, but it’s also really busy all the time. So it’s easy to see why they wouldn’t spend the extra money unless they have to.
The beds are really comfy and the rooms are tidy, although as mentioned, rather old fashioned. Views out of the back of the hotel are onto some industrial waste/farm land. While not pretty to look at, it was very quiet which is always a welcomed bonus.
The breakfast served was great and they kept food coming right up until it ended. The staff in the restaurant looked very scruffy which for a Hilton was rather surprising. But that didn’t deter this hungry diner from making the most of the free breakfast you get as a Diamond Hilton Honors member.
Overall Hilton Watford served a purpose and the odds of a return visit are more than likely.
