BOGOF on Hilton Honors points

We recently covered how you could save $375 when you buy points for use at Radisson Hotels, but what if you’re a Hilton Honors member and want a good deal?

They’re currently offering double points when you buy any amount over 10,000 up to a maximum of 160,000. This would mean you’d get 320,000 points for $1,600.

You might wonder though, what can I buy with that many points?

Well, the value of points varies according to the hotel and dates you book, so for the purposes of comparison of points vs real money, let’s take a look at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills (United States of America). It’s a brand new, luxury hotel with far reaching views and incredible design.

For 2 people to stay 1 night on 2nd November, you’d be looking at 314,000 Honors points for a Beverly Hills King Room with terrace and view. If you were to book the same room using cash, they’d charge $975 for a flexible rate.

In this instance you’d be saving $625 by booking with cash rather than points.

But that’s not the case in all hotels and as the value of points flux by day and hotel, it’s probably the best time to buy points if you planned to.

Another example is Conrad St. James in London, UK. Looking at the same dates, a King Superior Room is 80,000 points, which would be $400 to buy. But if you were to pay cash, it would be $424 for an equivalent flexible rate so you’d save you $24.

As an aside, the Conrad St. James in London is a delightful hotel and the service there is outstanding. It’s well worth a visit!
